Dear me! Your aunt is coming over and it’s her birthday. This is really good news, except that you didn’t know beforehand and you don’t have a gift!
Don’t lose your head! You can make a gift that she will love, and it’s really easy. You can make a candy bouquet in a coffee cup, and all you need are some candies, some leaves, and a coffee cup.
Find a suitable coffee cup.
Majority of people have coffee cups lying around their houses. Do you have a cup from an incomplete coffee set?
Try and find a nice looking cup, as it will ruin the effect of the candy bouquet if you use an old tacky, chipped cup!
Prepare the coffee cup to hold the candy.
Take some dried oasis and push it into the coffee cup. If you can’t get any oasis, use cellophane, but be aware that oasis works better.
Before you put in the oasis or cellophane, place a sheet of cellophane over the bottom of the cup first. This will make it easier to clean later, as any flakes that fall off the oasis will be caught by the cellophane.
Add the leaves for the candy bouquet.
Place some leaves around the outside edge of the cup. Have the leaves overlap a little for a nice effect. Try and space the leaves out evenly, but don’t worry too much if the aren’t spaced perfectly. It will make the bouquet seem more natural.
Insert the candy flowers.
You should then put the candy flowers into the coffee cup. Begin arranging form the middle and go from there to the outside. The number of candies you’ll use will range from 5 to 11, depending on the size of the cup you’re using.
Use leaves as fillers.
You don’t want your aunt to see the oasis through the gap between the candies. So fill in any gaps where you can see through to the oasis, with leaves.
Use some ribbon.
Personally, I like candy bouquets that have some ribbon. Putting a ribbon around the cup and maybe adding a bow would be a good idea.
There, you’re finished! Very quick and easy, I think you’ll agree! Candy bouquets make lovely gifts for anyone. Just don’t be surprised if it’s half eaten next time you see it!
